The East Reach of Greens Bayou spans from the Union Pacific Railroad, just east of US 59 to US 90, making up much of northeast Houston. The East Reach incorporates portions of Humble and Atascocita and is largely comprised of residential development with a great deal of natural vegetation covering the watershed.
Greens Bayou Wetland Mitigation Bank is a major asset of the East Reach. This 1,400-acre wetland project combines wetland creation, floodwater management and natural stormwater runoff treatment through wetlands.
- Educate the community about the organization and develop volunteers for future community events and water quality testing
- Working with Waste Management, and other area stakeholders to create a community park which will incorporate natural trails, educational signage, and a playground.
- Assisting Parkway Utility District to create a trail connecting their community trail system and natural wetlands to the bayou.
The committee for the East Reach typically meets the third Thursday of the month and rotates the meeting locations monthly.
